You are invited to the launch of #LinkedInLocal Perth
Do you have a goal to meet your LinkedIn connections in person?
LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional social network and the perfect place to connect and building relationships with people in your professional world. We often connect to people we have never met in person due to the nature of how the network operates.
There is huge value in meeting connections face to face, so we are launching the first #LinkedInLocal in Perth to take conversations into the real world.
This event will be facilitated by Perth’s LinkedIn experts Darrel Griffin and Jo Saunders, together with LinkedIn advocate Joanna Harper.
#LinkedInLocal is a movement that is gaining momentum around the world and it’s all about meeting your connections in real life. It is the brainchild of Anna McAfee https://www.linkedin.com/in/annamcafee/, who launched the first event in Coffs Harbour in June. She said the event is all about promoting the idea of building online relationships offline and supporting local businesses. We have a deep need for human connection, but social media has blurred the lines. Getting back to basics and taking the connection offline, allows us to think global while embracing local.
Our first event will be sponsored by LIBERTY CO-WORKING who are providing the venue, snacks and are shouting the first round. All proceeds from this event will go to our chosen charity – Opportunity Australia
The event is open to anyone who is a 1st, 2nd or 3rd level connection Darrel, Jo or Jo, (isn't that most of Perth!) at any stage of your career. Come along and meet your Perth LinkedIn network, get to know your connections and make some new ones, while learning how to extend the value LinkedIn provides.
This will be an informal, pitch-free event that is all about relationship building. You will hear from the hosts, the sponsor and the charity, but merely as an introduction. We will be available to answer your LinkedIn questions and encourage sharing of what is working for you. We will have some networking prompts for a bit of fun and to assist those who find networking intimidating.
Given the vast amount of interest in this event*, it is advised to book early. Places are limited due to venue limitations, so please ensure that you can make it, and if something changes, let us know so that we can open up your place to another local person.
Where did the Perth event start?
*Darrel asked his network for expressions of interest, and with 200+ Likes and 200+ comments, we determined that the event had wheels. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6311102250035085312
Here was the post:
“PERTH: Jo Saunders and I are hoping to launch #LinkedInLocalPerth in November -- and we wondered whether YOU would be interested in joining us? (LinkedIn Locals have been popping up all over the world, providing LinkedIn users with the opportunity to meet for a drink and network.) For now we're just trying to gauge interest, so please comment below if you'd like to be notified nearer the time. #LinkedInLocal”
Darrel and Jo are ambassadors of LinkedIn, and independent trainers and consultants to business. They have complementary skills and backgrounds and agree that LinkedIn is not a direct sales tool, or even a direct marketing tool, it is a social selling tool, which really comes down to investing in building relationships. Join us to learn more about extending relationships beyond LinkedIn.
